The automatic uncapping device was developed by engineers who are also experienced beekeepers. It has enough power to lift honeycombs even when they are covered with a significant amount of propolis or beeswax, or filled with honey. It can handle cases similar to the example image below, but may not function properly if there is excessive buildup beyond that level.

Just like traditional uncapping devices, the Daesung Smart Hive automatic uncapping machine uses two rotating brushes to sweep the bees off the combs.
Compared to existing devices, it is designed with enhanced safety in mind, using softer brush materials to minimize harm and gently remove the bees.

There is a tendency for bees to reattach to only the first exposed honeycomb among the stacked frames. To address this, the automatic uncapping machine has been improved by attaching a PC film to the lower area where bees might enter, effectively blocking them from coming back out. The PC film is attached with Velcro, making it easy to remove and reattach. We are continuing our research to find even more effective solutions.
Traditional beekeeping requires at least 2 to 5 skilled workers, and it takes 4 to 8 hours to process 150 beehives. However, with the automatic uncapping machine, the same task can be completed within 5 hours by just two people. Using the automatic uncapping machine allows even a single operator with a battery pack to perform labor-intensive beekeeping tasks much more easily.
